Our Services

Speech therapy
A speech and language pathologist or a speech therapist is a professional trained to diagnose and treat children and adults facing difficulties in their speech, language and communication.

Tele-speech therapy follows the same strategies as traditional speech therapy with slight adjustments, such as the use technology and audiovisual equipment, to allow for distant therapy. Initially, teletherapy was introduced to give the opportunity to people that need support and/or treatment, but have difficulty accessing this type of services, for whatever reason, to get the help they need. Nowdays, a lot families choose to use teletherapy due to their tight schedule.

Telepractice has been used broadly in Europe and the U.S.A. during the past decade, with credible results according to ASHA ((American Speech and Hearing Association), similar to those of traditional speech therapy. In Greece, e-Evlogon is the pioneer of telepractice, offering distant therapy, in Greek language, for the first time.

Vocational guidance
One of the most important decisions, a teenager has to make, is the choice of the field of his/hers studies, since this is going to play a major part in his/hers professional direction, personal and professional success and therefore fulfillment in the years to come.

In order for this choice to be as “right” as possible, besides the characteristics of the market and the society the teenager intends to live in, one has to take into consideration his/her own personal characteristics such as strengths and weaknesses, values, preferences, talents etc.

Therefore, aside from personal research and guidance from the family for such an important life decision, our interdisciplinary team suggests the standardized evaluation of the above-mentioned characteristics, so that the final answers are really based on objective criteria and correlations of personal characteristics.

16PF (16 personality factors) is a well-known and established psychometric instrument, developed by Dr. Raymond Cattell almost half a century ago. It has been recognized as an international standard of reference for vocational counseling and personnel selection as it accurately determines the parameters involved in shaping human behavior and the aspects of personality of the person taking the test.

Our team of psychologists use the 5th edition of the 16PF instrument, that has been standardized and translated in Greek by Ison Psychometrica. It is a self administered questionnaire, consisting of 185 questions, from which the administrator can extract the score on 16 scales and the correlations between specific factors.

The process involves one introductory session, with the teenager and the parents. The teenager answers the questionnaire at his/her own time and submits it when he/she is ready. The results are given to the whole family in a subsequent session, after the therapist has processed the answers. All the session are online and after the discussion of the results, the family receives (through e-mail) a detailed repost with the results of the test.

Psychotherapy
Tele-psychotherapy, like any type of tele-therapy, is based on the use of technology to offer a counseling or psychotherapy session through the internet.

A session, in tele-psychotherapy, follows the same structure as a typical, traditional face to face session, always according to the therapeutic model and contract that has been agreed upon between the therapist and the client.

This new way of practicing psychotherapy, is getting very popular in Europe and the U.S.A. during the past decade, since it allows everyone to get the support they need from the comfort of their own office or home.

Scientific research regarding the effectiveness of online psychotherapy has shown that its results are comparable and in some cases even better to those of traditional psychotherapy  (Wagner Birgit, Andrea B. Horn, Maercker Andreas. Internet-based versus face-to-face cognitive-behavioral intervention for depression: A randomized controlled non-inferiority trialJournal of Affective Disorders, 2013; DOI:10.1016/j.jad.2013.06.032).

Occupational therapy
In occupational therapy, we use creative activities and special techniques and interventions to achieve the development or improvement of specific skills of the person receiving the treatment, so that they are according to his or hers chronological age. The evaluation is usually done through clinical observation, clinical interview with the parents and the use of specialized, standardized tools.

When we say “creative activity” we mean any activity that gives the therapist and the person receiving the intervention a chance to work on things that will eventually produce the development of a set of skills.

For instance, building a human figure out of colored clay can help a child improve his/hers fine motor skills and sensory integration ability, learn and differentiate colors, learn and gradually memorize the names of body parts, improve his/hers problem solving ability and, of course, boost his/hers self esteem through the successful completion of a fun activity.

Online, the occupational therapist uses specially designed computer programs or gives instructions to the client to achieve similar goals to those set and achieved in a face to face occupational therapy session.

Learning disabilities rehabilitation program
A learning disabilities rehabilitation program, is an intervention developed especially and specifically for children who demonstrate some kind difficulty in the learning process, either primary, like dyslexia, or secondary to some other condition, like a developmental disorder.

Learning difficulties are not related in any way with a child’s IQ score or his/hers eagerness to learn. Rather, they neurologically based and account for a difference in the way a child can acquire knowledge, through the use of specialized techniques than those used in a traditional classroom. The therapist utilizes these specialized techniques during the rehabilitation program, teaching the child different ways and approaches that allow for the processing, memorizing and ultimately learning of the material they are supposed to according to their age and school level.

A learning disabilities rehabilitation program can start from pre-school age and uses interventions that promot and enhance the basis of learning structures such as pre-mathematical thinking or quantity and time concepts development. At school age, interventions are more related to school material such as spelling, reading, memorizing etc. but continue to make use of specialized techniques to achieve the best possible results for the child.

Greek language classes
Learning or improving your Greek might interest you, if you are a Greek living abroad or a non-Greek living – or planning to live – in Greece. Our team will listen to your own personal characteristics and design a Greek language learning program tailor made, just for you.

The idea behind this Greek language class is that it can be adjusted for people than have no experience or knowledge of the Greek language or for people that just want to enhance or improve specific parts of the language (e.g. their vocabulary, their comprehension etc.).
